OG:Checker

The OG:Checker previews how any webpage will appear when shared on social media and validates its OpenGraph meta tags.

What it checks

Tag Description
og:title Title shown in the share preview
og:description Description shown below the title
og:image Preview image URL
og:url Canonical URL of the page
og:type Content type (website, article, etc.)
og:site_name Site name displayed in the card
twitter:card Twitter/X card type (summary, summary_large_image)
twitter:title Title override for Twitter/X
twitter:description Description override for Twitter/X
twitter:image Image override for Twitter/X

How to use it

  1. Enter a full URL (e.g. https://example.com/my-page)
  2. Click Check
  3. View the rendered preview card alongside the detected tags

Preview modes

The tool renders a visual preview of how the page would appear on:

  • Facebook / LinkedIn — uses og:* tags
  • Twitter / X — uses twitter:* tags, falls back to og:*

Validation

Each tag is evaluated and flagged if:

  • Required tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) are missing
  • The og:image URL is unreachable or returns an error
  • The title or description is too long for typical display

Tips

  • Always set og:image — posts without an image get far less engagement
  • Recommended image size: 1200 × 630 px (1.91:1 ratio)
  • Keep og:title under 60 characters and og:description under 160 characters
  • After updating your tags, social platforms may cache the old version for several hours — use their debug tools to force a refresh:
